How to Prepare for your Portrait Session.
Once you have booked and confirmed your Portrait Session with Tots and Bots, there are a few things you may like to do before your session to be prepared.
The best time to schedule your Portrait Session is when you know your child's best time of day... usually after they have had a sleep and a feed means they are in a settled, happy mood and will give lots of cute smiles during the session. If you are unsure on when to book, discuss your concerns with your Tots and Bots Photographer for more helpful ideas... afterall we are not there to upset your littleones, but to capture their happy moments... so knowing the best time of day for them is usually the best time to book in your session.
Below you will find a few Hints and Tips to follow to ensure your Portrait Session goes as smoothly as possible.
What to Wear?
* Select suitable clothing for you and your family to wear, make sure it is clean and ironed if required.
* It looks better if everyone being photographed co-ordinates with eachother both in colour and theme etc. our photography is about making you the centre of attention, no what you are wearing as your clothing and accessories are only there to enhance your features, so make sure your clothing doesn't distract you in your images. For example, plain coloured clothing is usually better, with no eyecatching patterns or prints etc. these will only take the viewer's eye away from you when they look at your images.
* A lovely look for families is Denim and a plain colour - denim & white, denim & black, denim & red etc... Denim always looks great and is timeless.
* You may like to have a theme for your session, for example, if you are having your images taken at the beach, you may like to add some beach themed items, (bright coloured towels, umberellas, surfboards etc...) to you shoot as props, or you may all like to wear board shorts for the boys and matching coloured sun dresses for the girls etc...
* Or you may like to wear big coats, boots or scarves if it is cold and you are in the country.
* Retro clothing if you are in the city etc. etc...

What to Bring?
If you have small children in your portrait session it is always a great idea to be prepared for any situation they can throw at you.. :)
* Bring extra clothing just in case they have an accident or get dirty before the session is over.
* Bring along a few healthy snacks and water just in case they get a little fussy and need settling (nothing with sugar if possible, this will only over excite the little ones).
* Have some wet wipes or small towels handy to clean up little faces and fingers.
* Hair brushes and accessories are a good idea to have on hand for little girls.
* A child's favourite Toy can be a great distraction if they are getting a little fussy, and toys like rattles, squeekers etc. are also a great idea to have on hand to get the kids attention and are great to bring a smile to their face.
* If there will be a baby or babies in the shoot, please bring along a small blanket so they can lay on it or be cuddled into if it turns a little cool on location.
